Child and Sexual Abuse Awareness
Discusses Ga. Law, Bright from the Start (BFTS) rules and regulations, reporting procedures, signs and symptoms of physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect. Will discuss how to meet the needs of suspected abused children.
Staff & Professional Responsibilities
This workshop will discuss daily issues and responsibilities such as sharing space with staff, promptness, child/staff ratios, teacher self-esteem, parent communication, and director/staff communication skills.
Multi-Sensory Math for Pre-School Children
Presents multi-sensory activities to introduce and familiarizes children with numbers and number concepts.
Health I (Infection and Disease Control)
This workshop will discuss methods to prevent the transmission of disease, laws concerning immunization of children, criteria for children not attending child care, medication laws, and universal precautions.
Health II (Safety and Injury Control & SIDS Prevention)
This workshop will include securing the outside area of the center; will cover methods to prevent choking, burns, water accidents, guidelines for van and transportation safety, and accidents. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome will also be discussed.
Curriculum Ideas and Community Resources
Free and inexpensive program ideas for infants through after school care children. Creative ideas will be suggested and teachers will be given the opportunity to work in small group settings and develop a creative lesson plan and unit.
Breaking Up is Hard to Do (Divorce)
This class will provide guidance for teachers and parents to help children understand the effects and consequences of divorce and separation. This class will discuss methods used to create a supportive environment for children going through this life event. Parents are encouraged to attend with the staff.
Music and Rhythms
This class will include songs, games, finger plays, and creative movement. Involvement of community (high schools, local symphonies, bands) will be encouraged to help children and teachers expand and appreciate music of all forms.
Visual and Spatial Awareness
Designed to enhance children's spatial orientation, auditory acuity, and visual acuity. Small and large group activities will help teachers understand these concepts.
Nutrition I
Provides an understanding of the food pyramid, the foods we eat as adults, attitudes toward mealtime, and a discussion of food and the impact on our physical and emotional status. Aids in establishing healthful attitudes about food.
Nutrition II
Aids in planning menus for child care centers according to USDA guidelines, financial considerations, and BFTS (GA) rules and regulations.
Address Your Stress
This workshop will suggest methods to reduce stress in the teachers' personal and professional life. Effective communication will enhance the job performance of the staff and will promote professionalism.
Block Play
This class will provide an understanding of basic concepts of block play and its application in the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of the child from infancy to pre-school.
Positive Parent Communication
This class will provide creative ideas to promote family involvement in the child care center. Mutual assumption of responsibility by families and centers enhance the whole child.
"This Ole' Heart of Mine" – Heart Healthy Living
Have you ever wondered why you can't eat just one? A chip, a cracker, candy, fries and super-sized fast food meals? This class is a must for everyone involved with your center: parents, staff, and most importantly, you. Heart healthy living, strategies and healthy eating plans will be explored.
Shape It up Baby
What are we feeding our children? What are we not feeding our children? Childhood Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes will be discussed as well as ideas and strategies for healthier menus. This is a must for teachers and parents.
Multi Sensory Language and Literacy
This workshop will provide teachers with ideas to promote language and literacy through the 5 senses. Children will have daily opportunities to explore the world of language and writing in all learning centers in the classroom.
The Multiple Intelligence Theory
Presents Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory and its application and purpose for children. This is designed to help teachers tap into the different learning styles of children while discovering your own!

This workshop will address self esteem in teachers. Teachers will take a look at their inner and outer shells and decide if they need to take steps to make changes that will enhance their own feeling of self worth.
